John T. Powers D.D.S., F.I.C.O.I.
Dr. Powers grew up in St. Paul, Minnesota and attended Cretin High School. He received his Bachelor of Elected Studies from the University of Minnesota in 1974. He spent 2 ½ years in the US Army as a Dental Assistant, a Dental Hygienist, and a non commissioned officer in charge of the Army dental clinic at Fort Snelling. He then went on to receive his Doctor of Dental Sciences (DDS) from the University of Minnesota in 1978. Dr. Powers practiced in downtown St. Paul and North Minneapolis. He practiced in St. Paul on University Avenue for 16 years and then moved to Montevideo in 2000 where he is currently practicing at Main Street Dental Care. Dr. Powers has since completed the Post Graduate Program Aestetic Dentistry Levels I and II and is nearly complete with level III. Dr. Powers attended the Misch International Institute of Implantology in 2002. He received his conscious sedation training and licensed in 2004. He is a fellow in the International Congress of Oral Implantology. Dr. Powers currently has an apointment as an Ajunct Faculty at the Rice Regional Dental Clinic, School of Dentistry outreach clinic in Willmar, Minnesota.
Dr. Powers finds excitement in helping people get orally healthy and achieving a radiant smile. Dr. Powers consistently strives to improve on his skills and knowledge of dentistry. Learning for Dr. Powers has always been “fun” for him continuing education keeps the fire of dentistry burning in him. He also hopes to help inspire his team members to accomplish more and dream bigger. The joy of teaching dental students allows him to give back to his profession and mentor the students to a career they have worked so hard to achieve.
Dr. Powers is married to Kathleen and they have four children. Daughters Rachel and Melissa are both dental assistants in the Twin Cities. Youngest daughter Bridgette resides at The Sisters of the Order of Saint Benedict in St. Joseph, MN. Son John T. III (Jack) is a student at the University of Minnesota getting his master degree in Biology. When Dr. Powers is not seeing patients he enjoys being with family, his four grandchildren, traveling, photography, and attending continuing education.
Dr. Burrichter, DDS
Dr. Burrichter has been at Main Street Dental Care since September 2016. He has a daughter, Sophia, who is a senior in high school. He enjoys outdoor activities including sports, golf, and fishing. Dr. Burrichter also enjoys dining out and going to the movies.
Dr. Burrichter says that he enjoys being part of an excellent team that provides dental services to a large number of patients in an undeserved area. He says “I try to help as many patients as I can each day I work.”
Dr. Burrichter is a well-rounded and talented professional. The doctor graduated from the University of Minnesota with top honors in 2007, and was awarded the School of Dentistry Academic Excellence Award. From 2003-2006, Dr. Burrichter was awarded the Wallace D. Armstrong Award for science research in dentistry. In 2005, Dr. Burrichter was presented with the Omicron Kappa Upsilon William S. Kramer Award. Dr. Burrichter has also published multiple articles on scientific research. Dr. Burrichter completed his GPR training in Hartford, CT at the St. Francis Hospital and Medical Center in 2008. He completed a year of OMFS residency in Farmington, CT in 2009.
